Inserting or deleting systems

Let’s say we just discovered the arranger inserted an introduction to our song, after all of our careful layout. No problem!

1. Scroll back to page 1. Click system 1 to select it. From the Page Layout menu, choose Insert Staff Systems. Finale opens the Insert Staff Systems dialog box. Here you can specify how many systems to insert, how many measures, where to insert the system and whether to recalculate the even spacing of the systems.
2. Click in the Insert Systems text box and enter 2. Uncheck Space Systems Evenly then click OK. Finale adds a system with the same margins as the old system 1. Feel free to edit these margins by dragging the handles as we did previously.
3. Click on the system handle for the first system, then shift-click on the system handle for the second system. Both systems are now selected and should have a filled square.
4. From the Page Layout menu, choose Delete Staff Systems.
