To change a rest’s duration

  1. Click the Simple Entry tool  image\Simple_Entry_Tool.gif. The Simple Entry Palettes appear.
  2. Click the icon on the Rest Palette representing the desired new duration.
  3. Click the rest. It changes to the new duration.
  4. After entering a rest with the caret, hold down Alt and type a duration (1-8).
